Download and Install Office 365 on a Mac

Step 1: Sign in and install Office

  1. Go to portal.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
  2. Sign in with the business relationship you associated with this version of Function. Businesses should choose 'work account' when signing in.
  3. On the Office habitation folio, select Install Office Apps > Office 2016 if y'all signed in with a piece of work or school account. (Notation: The link may say Office 2016, yet Office will install the virtually upwards-to-engagement version of the Role apps every bit set past your Part 365 admin.)

This begins the download of Office. Follow the prompts on your screen to complete the install.

Step 2: Install Office

    Tip: If you see an error that says the Microsoft Role installer.pkg tin't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer, wait 10 seconds and move the downloaded file to your desktop. Hold Command + click the file to launch the installer.

  2. On the starting time installation screen, select Go along to begin the installation process.

  3. Review the software license agreement, and so click Continue.

  4. Select Hold to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.

  5. Choose how you desire to install Office and click Continue.

  6. Review the disk space requirements or modify your install location, and so click Install.

    Notation: If you want to only install specific Office apps and not the unabridged suite, click the Customize button and uncheck the programs you don't want.

  7. Enter your Mac login password, if prompted, and and so click Install Software. (This is the password that you lot use to log in to your Mac.)

  8. The software begins to install. Click Close when the installation is finished. If Office installation fails, meet What to attempt if you can't install or activate Office for Mac.

Step 3: Launch an Office for Mac app and start the activation process

  1. Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock to display all of your apps.

  2. Click the Microsoft Word icon in the Launchpad.

  3. The What's New window opens automatically when you lot launch Discussion. Click Get Started to start activating. If you need help activating Office, see Activate Office for Mac. If Office activation fails, run across What to effort if you lot tin't install or activate Role for Mac.
